On the 13th day of the dark fortnight of the month of Ashwin (October / November), after 20 days of Dusshera, this festival of lights, is usually celebrated. Though there are many stories behind the origin of Diwali, all of them share a common essence of, Victory of Good over evil.

Thus, emancipation day is the day on which slavery was banned and all the slaves got freedom, which was like unbelievable truth for them. The slavery practice was one of the long practices in Americas, where mostly Africans were slaved, for different work purposes. The emancipation day is celebrated on August 1 every year in Trinidad and Tobago.
