The Civic Holiday in the country of Canada is celebrated on the 1st Monday of the month of August. The day is known with different names in different parts of the countries. However, the day is officially referred by this name in the Nunavut and the northwestern territories. The day is a mandatory holiday in these parts of the countries only. The names of the civic holidays in Canada are different in different municipalities and provinces of most parts of the country. It is known as the “British Columbia Day” in the British Columbia, “New Brunswick Day” in the New Brunswick and “Saskatchewan Day in the Saskatchewan. In certain region of the country, such as Alberta, it is the optional civic holiday that is known as “Heritage Day”. In 1990, this day was downgraded from the compulsory holiday to an optional one.

Many of the territories that do not celebrate this day. Provincial tartans and flowers, birds, trees, gemstones or minerals are respectively used by these provinces. The Canadian people celebrate this day in order to show their achievements and culture might to the other countries of the world. This day in French language is known as “le Conge statutairedu mois d’aout”. The others American countries have also started to celebrate this day and that is known as different names, but as said the zest and the enthusiasm of the celebration is same.
