Shaheed Day is observed as a National Mourning Day for Bangladesh which is held in memory of the students of Dhaka University who were killed on their battle to protect Bangla as their National language. It is also known to the citizens as Martyrs’ Day and it is one of the most solemnly celebrated holidays in Bangladesh.
