Mexico’s Birthday of Benito Juarez is a public holiday in Mexico.

Mexico commemorates the birthday of Benito Juarez, the president of Mexico from January 19, 1858 to July 18, 1872. Juarez is famous for his anti-clerical views and has fought hard to remove the prejudices against the indigenous people of Mexico, a problem which plagued the country in the 19th century. He led a novel effort of modernizing Mexico’s economy despite a cataclysmic political environment.

The holiday is also called Day of the Indian Chief.

Independence Day is a public holiday in Namibia

The Republic of Namibia, or simply Namibia, is located in southern Africa bordering the nation of South Africa (south), Angola, Zambia (north), Botswana, and Zimbabwe (east). The western portion of the African country is a gateway to the Atlantic ocean.

Namibia celebrates its anniversary of independence from South African rule every 21st of March yearly. March 21 also marks the day when the Namibian War of Independence ended in 1990. Independence Day is one of the highly observed public holidays in the country.

Human Rights Day is a public holiday in South Africa.

South Africa observes the celebration of Human Rights Day on this day to remember those who perished in the highly sensational event called Sharpeville Massacre that occurred on March 21, 1960. The massacre, also known as ‘Sharpeville Shootings’ was highly publicized around the globe and it tells graphic stories of blatant killing of South African police towards a band of protesters killing 69 people and wounded less than 200 people on the scene.

Nau-Roz Bayrami: March 21

Nau-Roz Bayrami is a public holiday in Azerbaijan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Nau-Roz or commonly known as Nowruz in Iran, is celebrated on the first day of the spring usually falling between the 20th and the 22nd of March every year. In Islamic solar calendar, Nowruz is the first day of Farvardin or Iran’s first solar month.

The word Nowruz came from the Persian words ‘now’ meaning new, and “ruz” meaning time or day which later on was taken to understood as new year’s day since it is celebrated once a year.
