Proclamation of the Republic Day is a public holiday in Brazil.

Like many other countries of the world, Brazil grappled with slavery issues in the nineteenth century. The combination of calls for abolition, distrust of the Empire, and widespread economic chaos led to an underground movement supporting the formation of a republic. The successful creation of that republic on November 15, 1889 is celebrated today as Proclamation of the Republic Day in Brazil.

Remembrance Day: November 11, 2010

Remembrance Day is a public holiday in Bermuda.

On Monday, November 11, 1918, at the hour of 11 a.m., World War I officially came to an end with the formalization of the armistice treaty between the Allies and Germany. All told, over 15 million people were killed in the brutal conflict leaving lasting impressions on much of the world’s population.

Due to the significance of the events of not only World War 1 but also other wars that have taken the lives of so many, Bermuda—among many other countries—celebrates Remembrance Day.

Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Benin, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Chile, Colombia, Cote d‘Ivoire, Finland, France, French Guiana, French Polynesia, Gabon, Germany, Guatemala, Guinea, Haiti, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Nicaragua, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Reunion Island, Rwanda, San Marino, Senegal, Seychelles, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Tahiti, Togo, Venezuela.

All Saints’ Day is a celebration of all Christian saints, known and unknown, and especially for those saints who have no special feast days of their own. It is observed worldwide by Roman Catholics, Anglicans and Protestant churches. In Portugal it is annually held on November 1, as with many western countries and in many eastern churches it is celebrated on the first Sunday after Pentecost.
